How to see a competitor's ads, library by library
Every big ad platform keeps a public library of the ads running on it. They are free, and you can check them by hand:
Facebook and Instagram. Open the Meta Ad Library, pick “All ads”, type the company’s page name and keep “Active”. Each ad shows the date it started running.
Google. Open the Google Ads Transparency Center and search the company or its website. You see its Search, YouTube and display ads, and when they were last shown.
LinkedIn. Open the LinkedIn Ad Library and search the company. It lists the ads it ran on LinkedIn over the past year.
TikTok. The TikTok Ad Library covers ads shown in Europe.
That is four searches in four places, for one company. The checker above does it in one, for SaaS companies.
Which of their ads actually work
The longest-running ones. A company keeps paying for an ad only while it brings customers at a price it likes. An ad live for 90 days or more is a winner; an ad gone after a week was a test that lost.
The ones they copy. When the same message shows up in many versions, they are testing around something that works.
The pace. A company adding ads every week is scaling. One cutting ads is pulling back. That pace is often the first sign a competitor is changing strategy.
What to copy, and what not to
Copy the angle: the problem they lead with, the promise, the offer (free trial, demo, template). Do not copy the creative itself; it is theirs, and your customers will notice.
Then open the landing page behind their longest-running ad. That page is the funnel that pays for itself.
Questions
How can I see my competitors' ads for free?
Use the public ad libraries: the Meta Ad Library for Facebook and Instagram, the Google Ads Transparency Center for Google and YouTube, and the LinkedIn Ad Library. For SaaS companies, the SaaSpy checker shows all of them in one search, free.
Can I see how much a competitor spends on ads?
The platforms do not show it for normal ads. SaaSpy estimates monthly ad spend from the reach data Meta publishes for ads shown in Europe, and shows it on SaaSpy Pro. Companies that only advertise in the US have no estimate.
How do I know which of their ads work?
Look at how long each ad has been running. Companies stop ads that lose money, so the ones live for months are the ones that pay.
Is it legal to look at competitors' ads?
Yes. These libraries are public on purpose, so anyone can see who is advertising and what they say.
Does the checker cover every company?
It covers the SaaS and app companies SaaSpy tracks on Meta, Google and LinkedIn, refreshed every day. If a company is not found, it is not running ads we can see right now.
